PREPARING FOR TRAVEL DISRUPTION

Events such as severe weather, roadworks or traffic accidents can cause disruption as you travel from A to B. That is why it is so important to take steps to either avoid the disruption or minimise the impact of the delay on your journey.

You may want to consider the following when

  • If you're making a journey and bad weather is forecast, make a travel plan.
  • There are also some everyday things you could put in your vehicle that will stand you in good stead at any time of the year. For peace of mind always carry an emergency kit in your vehicle. You can find advice on what to keep in your car here - AA Motoring Checklist *
  • Consider public transport as an alternative.
  • Check to see if there is a better route.
  • Tell someone where you're going and what time you expect to be there or back.
  • Allow extra time for your journey.
  • Fully charge your mobile phone and take a charger with you.
  • Make sure you have appropriate clothing, equipment and food.
  • In winter, think about getting winter tyres.
