Retaining Wall Replacement 2011
A670 Stamford Street, Mossley
Construction work is due to begin on the 7 March 2011 to repair a retaining wall along Stamford Street, Mossley (A670) and work is expected to continue until the middle of July 2011. The wall can be found on Stamford Street between Broadcarr Lane and the Billy Goat Inn. (OS reference SJ967022). This vital repair work is being carried out to make sure that the road remains safe for all users.
What is happening?
The proposed construction work will include the following:
- Take down existing random coursed dry stone retaining wall
- Rebuild the wall using masonry clad mass concrete wall.
- Install timber post and rail fence at the top of the wall.
How will this affect my journey?
The works will take place as traffic continues to move along the road. Traffic will be managed by two temporary traffic signals near the work site. The management of traffic will take place following guidance provided by Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8 and disruption caused by large vehicles accessing the site will be kept to a minimum.
