Retaining Walls Repair Update
Stockport Road, Mossley
From Monday 3 May 2011, works to replace the retaining wall that upholds and protects the section of wall along Stockport Road, Mossley will begin. This vital replacement work is to be carried out to make sure that the road remains safe for all road users.

What is happening?
The work will be divided into five phases to reduce the impact on road users during construction. The support infrastructure along this important length of highway is in poor condition. It now requires urgent strengthening, otherwise the long term integrity of the road and its ability to carry traffic will be lost. The works are expected to last for 42 weeks.
How will this affect my journey?
Phases 1, 2, and 5 will have a lane closure for the duration of those phases. The length of the road with traffic control will be kept to a minimum and the traffic lights will be manually operated during the morning and evening rush hours. Stockport Road will be closed to vehicular traffic and open for pedestrian traffic during construction of phase 3 and 4. Quick Road will be closed to vehicular traffic and open for pedestrian traffic during the construction of phase 5.
