Tameside Safeguarding Framework

Foreword

I am pleased to introduce the new Tameside Safeguarding Framework which includes the revised inter-agency child protection procedures for Tameside. They are based on Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2006, the national statutory guidance which supports and guides the practice of staff and managers in all organisations with responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Tameside Safeguarding Framework has been developed with the valuable support and input of member agencies of Tameside SCB and other agencies who work with children, young people, parents and carers in Tameside. This publication consists of the core child protection procedures and these are also available on the Tameside SCB website. When amendments are made to the procedures and guidance these will be published on the TSCB website.

Further linked practice guidance and additional procedures are available on the Tameside SCB (TSCB) website and in other formats available from the TSCB office. The Tameside Safeguarding Framework is also a companion to the Tameside Children’s Needs Framework published by the Tameside Children & Young people’s Strategic Partnership which provides additional guidance on how to support everyone in achieving the best possible outcomes for children in Tameside.

The procedures in the Tameside Safeguarding Framework will be reviewed annually. We welcome any comments on the publications of the SCB and comments should be sent to the TSCB Administrator, at Union Street Building, Union Street, Hyde, Cheshire SK141ND.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and, in particular, protecting them from significant harm is the responsibility of everyone in Tameside and depends on effective joint working between practitioners and agencies that have different roles and expertise. These procedures provide the foundation for you to undertake this shared responsibility.

Ian Smith, Chair
Tameside Safeguarding Children Board
