Adjudicator's Decision
Release No 108 - 6 October 2004
Adjudicator Publishes Decision on a Linked Statutory Proposal to Reorganise Primary and Nursery Provision in Tameside
The Office of the Schools Adjudicator has published a decision on a statutory proposal to discontinue Clarendon Fields and Globe Lane Primary Schools from August 2007; add a nursery class at Broadbent Fold and St John's CE Primary Schools from September 2005 and establish a two form entry primary school on the Clarendon Fields site from September 2007.
The adjudicator, Dr Hilary Nicolle, approved the proposal. She concluded that overall, Dukinfield children will be accommodated in better buildings, suitably organised for modern curriculum delivery, with nursery provision more conveniently sited for many parents.
Notes to Editors:
Schools adjudicators are independent of the Government. They decide on school organisation issues and admission arrangements which cannot be resolved locally. They were appointed under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Their role is to look afresh at all cases referred to them, considering each case on its merits and taking account of the reasons for disagreement at local level in the light of the legislation and the guidance in the Code of Practice on Schools Admissions.
Copies of the determination reached by the adjudicator can be obtained from
the Office of the Schools Adjudicator. It can also be found on the Schools
Adjudicator Website - www.schoolsadjudicator.gov.uk
