How do I access the online system?
Use the online application system. More information is given in the Moving On Section.
When can I use the online system?
The online system is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. But, you will only be able to apply online for a school place up to the date set as the deadline for applications. If you miss that deadline and still want to submit an application you will have to contact the admissions team.
Will my details and those of my child be secure?
Yes, the system has a series of security procedures which will prevent anyone accessing information they are not entitled to see. If you live in Tameside your child will have a unique identification number (UID). You will be given your child's UID in a letter with the Moving On booklet. If you have more than one child transferring you will receive a UID for each child.
What details will be requested on the online application?
You will not need any more information than you would need if you were using a paper application form, other than the UID mentioned above.
How can I get information about the schools?
The Moving On Section provides advice. A copy of the Moving On booklet will be given to each Year 6 child who attends a Tameside primary school.
If I can't finish the application in one go can I save it and recall it later?
Yes, up to the closing date for applications.
Having submitted an electronic application, will I be able to change my mind?
Yes, you can make changes right up until the closing date for the admissions round, but you must remember to resubmit the application.
How will I know that the amendments have been logged?
Everytime you re-submit the online application you will receive email notification confirming the status of the application. You can also check the status when you log in to the system and select "existing application".
I am concerned that technology sometimes fails, should I send a paper copy as well?
The system notifies you of the status of your submitted applications by e-mail. If you think you have submitted an online application but do not get an email acknowledgement, we recommend that you contact the admissions team. There should be no reason to complete a paper form as well.
Will my application receive any preference if I apply online?
No, there are lots of advantages to applying online but you will not get a higher priority for a school place.
Will I be told the result of my application electronically?
An email will be sent telling you the outcome of your application on the date specified in the admissions timetable if you select this option (see Moving On Section). Those who applied using a paper form will have a letter posted to them on the same date.
Where can I get more information?
How do I apply for a place at a school outside Tameside?
