Applying for a Primary School

If your child was born between 1st September 2004 and 31st August 2005, he/she is eligible to apply for a Reception class place at a Primary School for the academic year 2009/2010.

The Admissions Section will send "Starting Out" booklets to all Tameside Primary Schools during October 2008. You need to put your child's name down at your preferred Primary School by 13th October 2008 in order to receive a school application pack, even if your child attends the Nursery or you have an older child at the school. If you do not receive a pack, you can contact Admissions to request one. You may wish to view a copy of "Starting Out" on-line. Please put your child's name down at one Primary School only.

Please note that a place at a nursery attached to a Primary School does not automatically mean that your child will get a place at that school.

The closing date for applications for September 2009 is 28th November 2008. You must return your application form, to your first preference Primary School by this date. Any applications received after 28th November 2008 will be dealt with after all applications received on time, and may result in an offer of a school place which is not your preferred school.

Parents have the opportunity to apply for a school place on-line. You will be able to change your school preferences at any time up to the closing date.
