Secondary School Admissions

Moving on to secondary school is an important step for your son or daughter. We want to make sure that the procedure of applying for a school place runs as smoothly as possible for your family.

The links below will help you with your application.

Please contact the Admissions Team on 0161 342 3208/3204 if you have any questions about applying for a secondary school place that are not answered by the information on these pages. We will be more than happy to help.

How to apply for a high school place

In September, the Admissions Section send "Moving On" booklets and application forms to the parents and carers of all children living in Tameside who are in their final year at Primary School. This includes children who go to independent schools, or to schools outside the borough provided we are aware that the child lives in Tameside. Pupils at Tameside Primary Schools will receive the pack via the school.

If you are a parent living in Tameside with a child due to start Secondary School in September 2009 and have not received a copy of the Moving On booklet, you should contact the Admissions Team straight away, on 0161 342 3208 or alternatively you can view a copy online.

The closing date for applications is 17th October 2008.

In order to maximize their chance of a place at a preferred school, parents need to understand the admissions criteria for all the schools in which they are interested so that they can not only decide which they prefer, but also assess which are the most likely to offer them a place.
