How do you decide where to place a School Crossing Patrol?
School Crossing Patrols are provided where children are in danger from road traffic when walking to and from school. This is not necessarily directly outside a school but could be anywhere on a direct route.
Can I request a School Crossing Patrol?
Requests can be made using the additional school crossing patrols online form. Following a request we will survey the area to see if it meets the national criteria which includes a vehicle and pedestrian count.

Currently Tameside has 105 school crossing patrols in operation.
Do you have any job vacancies?
We have positions for School Crossing Patrols and for Standby School Crossing Patrols.
As a School Crossing Patrol you will cover a set location within the Borough usually between the hours of 8.00am - 9.15am and 3.00pm - 4.00pm during school term time.
Full training, free uniform, travel expenses and all school holidays with pay!
As a Standby School Crossing Patrol you will cover for the School Crossing Patrols during periods of sickness absence etc. The hours of work are the same but your location of work will vary. A Standby position can often lead to a permanent position.
