Information For Parents Regarding In-year School Transfers

Moving house

It is generally in a child’s best interests to remain at the same school, however if a house move makes the journey too long you should request a transfer form from your child’s Tameside school. If you are moving into Tameside, forms can be obtained from the School Admissions Team Tel: 0161 342 3214/4068/3204 or you can download a Secondary School Transfer Form 70.43 KB .

If your child is in Year 10 or 11 another school may not match the subjects that your child is studying for GCSE examinations.

If your child is experiencing difficulties

Children may be unhappy at school for a number of reasons. It is important that any issues are discussed openly with staff in order to solve any problems. Transferring schools does not usually benefit a child.

Naming a preferred school

Parents can request a particular school, however if you are refused a place because the school has no places available, an alternative school may be offered.
