Agenda

1. Notes of the Last Meeting

To receive for information, the notes of the last meeting of the Network held on 10th July 2009.

2. Health Inequalities

Su Turner, Principal Consultant at the Centre for Public Scrutiny and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) Healthy Communities Team will be presenting the new Health Inequalities Programme funded by the IDeA and seeking to develop the role that Scrutiny has in tackling health inequalities.

3. North West Employers Organisation (NWEO) Additional Funds

The NWEO Member Development Gateway has secured NW Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP) funding for 2009/10 to support a number of member related projects; one of the key areas being the role of scrutiny in tackling health inequalities. NWEO are therefore looking to partner with the CfPS and IDeA on the Health Inequalities project (Item 2) in terms of providing further support for members/local authorities in the North West.

Sue Baxendale, Learning and Development Projects Adviser (NWEO) will be talking about this proposal following initial discussions with the CfPS/IDeA and how this could work in the North West.

4. Implementing A Successful Crime And Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP)

To receive a presentation by Ben Aspinall, Scrutiny and Elections Support Manager at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

5. Chair of the North West Scrutiny Support Officers’ Network

The current Chair of the Network, Howard Boots, is due to retire in March 2010. Nominations are sought for a replacement following Howard’s retirement together with a representative to be a member of the CfPS National Networks Forum.

6. Items for Future Agendas

Members are requested to suggest items for the next and future agendas.

7. Any Other Business

 

8. Arrangements For The Next Meeting

The next meeting of the Network will take place at 10.00am on Friday, 19th March 2010 in Committee Room 1, Tameside Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 6DL.
