A cadet scheme has been developed with the Manchester Deanery offering training placements in general dental practice for 10 trainee dental nurses.

3. That availability and quality of dental provision be monitored by the Scrutiny Panel and the PCT.

A principal objective of the PCT dental strategy is that the population of Tameside and Glossop will be able to see a dentist at least every 2 years to meet their dental needs.

A dental access service has been developed to ensure that all residents can access services to meet need.

Patients can telephone a single number (PCT access booking and choice line) and access routine or urgent care

Routine care is available through general dental practices, via the dental access centre or through dental access slots in general practice. Patients will be allocated to the service most convenient to them.

Urgent care is available, normally on the same day, in NHS dental practices throughout Tameside and Glossop and patients will be allocated by ABC to the slot most convenient to them.
