Tameside Parent Partnership Service Confidentiality Policy

Confidentiality Policy

Tameside Parent Partnership Service (PPS) is a confidential service for Parents/Carers who have children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This means that information shared with the service by Parents/Carers will not be passed onto others or discussed with anyone else outside the service, without parental permission.

Information given to the Support Worker will be discussed during a casework meeting with the Service Coordinator. However, the Coordinator does not share casework information with their line manager (this could be seen as a conflict of interest). The Coordinator is able to obtain support via other North West Parent Partnership Service Coordinators during peer mentoring sessions.

Information given to the service by parents is kept on a paper copy file. Files will be kept for 35 years in accordance to council policy. Basic details are inputted onto the service database. This is to enable efficient mail outs and anonymised statistical data to be gathered. Information is subject to the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act. The filing cabinet is locked when the office is empty and only PPS staff have access to the database.

Each telephone call, meeting, home visit or contact is written in note form and then written in full and placed on the paper copy file, which parents can ask to view.
