Refuse Collection

The Council is responsible for the collection and disposal of household refuse. This is a vital service that makes the borough a healthy, safe and clean place to live.

We will:

  • Collect your refuse on the same day each week (with the exception of Christmas day and new years day)
  • Advertise well in advance any changes to the collection service in the local press
  • Give you a date for collection and collect bulky household waste within 7 days of request being made at any customer service centre
  • Provide facilities for recycling waste

You can help us by:

  • Putting the refuse bin out to the edge of your property for emptying and collecting it after emptying. Special arrangements can be made if you are unable to do this
  • Making sure refuse sacks are tied
    Making sure your bulky household waste is easily accessible, on the day we have arranged to collect it
  • Using the recycling facilities and composting garden waste
