Student Awards

We aim to guide you through Government regulations and provide you with a friendly and helpful service when you apply for a student grant or student loan

We will:

• Make information available through Tameside schools and colleges.
• Provide advice and guidance on making your application by offering:
  • information booklets to guide you through the application process;
  • a telephone enquiry service and support in the Customer Service Centre at the Council Offices throughout office opening hours; 
• Provide you with an accurate assessment of your entitlement, if you are eligible, within 6 weeks of receiving your application
•  If you do not qualify, tell you why and advise you on other sources of financial help.
• Tell you what you need to do to get payment of your student support in time for the start of your course.

You can help us by:

• Applying on time, answering all questions and sending the supporting documents we ask for.
• Telling us about any change of address or change in your financial circumstances.
• Letting us know how we can improve this service to you.

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9.00am to 5.00pm
• Thursday 9.00am to 4.30pm
• Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm

Students starting their course in September 2009

New student finance application arrangements will apply to students beginning their studies from September 2009. Further details will be posted here as soon as they become available.
