What is Shopmobility?
...It's Independence!
- Shopmobility is a service to help those people who experience limited mobility, whether temporary or permanent, to keep their independence.
- We lend out manual wheelchairs and 3 and 4 wheeled scooters in order that all can get to the shops, stalls and services.
- Ashton-under-Lyne Town Centre is an ideal shopping and meeting place with it's extensive pedestrianised and level streets, shopping centres and Market.
Where is Shopmobility?
Ashton-under-Lyne is very central.
- You will find us just behind the New Phoenix Market Hall on Old Cross Street located in a Temporary Green Cabin.
- If you make a prior arrangement, you could be dropped off at the parking bays outside the Welcome Inn, where there is a covered seating area, and be met with the chair or scooter you feel most comfortable with.
- Or you can be met at your car in the Camp Street Car Park.

When can I use it?
- Tuesday: 10.00am - 2.00pm (4.00pm only by arrangement)
- Wednesday: 10.00am - 2.00pm (4.00pm only by arrangement)
- Thurday: 10.00am - 2.00pm (4.00pm only by arrangement)
- Friday: 10.00am - 2.00pm (4.00pm only by arrangement)
- Saturday: 10.00am - 2.00pm (4.00pm only by arrangement)
It is advisable to ring in advance to book the scooter/wheelchair of your choice.
How much does it cost?
Membership is £5.00 per quarter and £3.00 per use.
Non members is £5.00 per use.
