When you contact Tameside Adult Services for services, we will ask you questions about your situation (an assessment). From this assessment we will be able to see if you are eligible for services. If we cannot offer you a service, we can give information and advice about other organisations that may be able to help.

• Age Concern : Organises a wide range of activities, has a befriending scheme and also a handyman service. 
  
• Care Uk : Care UK’s Ashton under Lyne branch is able to provide a range of comprehensive and flexible home support packages, for a range of service users including, older people, people with a learning difficulty, people with mental health problems, children with disabilities etc.
  
• ChoicE (The Residential Care Information Shop), Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, 0161 339 5355.  (Open 10.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Saturday).
  Provides information about all aspects of residential care and nursing homes in Tameside. It has details of current vacancies.
  
• Citizens Advice Bureau : Advocacy Project, 9 George Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, 0161 339 7637 Advocacy for older people placed by Adult Services in residential care and nursing homes.
  
• Community Response Service: There are times when it can be worrying being alone. This is an alarm service to help people live safely and independently in their own home.
  
• Local Groups and Organisations Database: This lists local Tameside groups and organisations.
  
• Older People's Web Pages: A website full of information on clubs and activities for the over 55's in Tameside to take part in.
  
• Tameside Council: Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 6DL, 0161 342 8355. For information on any Tameside council service
  
• Tameside Home Services : Provides practical assistance with daily chores & activities such as housework, laundry, shopping etc, through to social support such as escorting to appointments, sitting services and support for carers.
  
• Welfare Rights Advice: Information and Advice Service, Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, 0161 342 3008/9
  Provides clear, concise, free and confidential advice and representation in matters of welfare benefits.
