Tameside Sports Awards 2005

Tameside Sports Development held it's 4th annual sports awards evening in March 2006. To celebrate and highlight the many examples of sporting excellence taking place within tameside. Over 100 people enjoyed the fantastic evening held at Stalybridge Civic Hall. Winners of the 6 catergories received their awards from the Mayor of Tameside and Gary Yates from Lancashire County Cricket Club.

  • Coach of the Year - For Services with Tameside Volleyball Club - Richard Jump
  • Disabled Sports Acheiver of the Year - James Shaw
  • Sports Achiever of the Year - Simon Horsfield
  • Unsung Hero of the Year - Services at Denton St Lawrence Cricket Club - Alfred Walton
  • Volunteer of the Year - Leesa Mellon (done 1000 hours up to date)
  • Club of the Year Award - John Murphy, representing East Cheshire Harriers and Tameside Athletic Club
