36 young top performers selected from multi skills festivals held at the beginning of the year are now part of Tameside’s Academy at Oxford Park Community Sports Centre in Ashton and St Thomas More RC College in Denton.

They will be tracked through their local sports club and hopefully we will see someone from Tameside representing Great Britain in London 2012 Olympic Games.

In October representatives from Sports Development travelled to London to battle it out against the other regional winners from across the Country to win the £50,000 award for talented young children in their Boroughs but came a close second to Sheffield.
