Greater Manchester Youth Games 2007
Team Tameside 'reigned' in 'rainy' Manchester
Another great year for Team Tameside in the 2007 Greater Manchester Youth Games!
The Games this year were again sponsored by New Charter Housing Trust.
The events were located at 4 sites - Broughton Park Rugby Club, Sport City and Belle Vue and Manchester Aquatics Centre.
The green team were out in force on Saturday 30 June with an army of volunteer Club coaches, Tameside Sports Development staff and young volunteers giving a helping hand and huge cheers for the young players.
The weather was sadly not on our side, but that didn't seem to put a dampner on Team Tameside competitors and supporters alike.
VIP's from New Charter along with the head of sports services Adam Allen and the Mayor of Tameside Councillor Michael Smith attended the Games to support Team Tameside.
The young players all had the experience of a lifetime and many have now gone onto joining local sports clubs in Tameside to continue in their chosen sport.
The mayor of Tameside said 'it was a fabulous day, all the young players did ever so well. I had a lovely time watching them play and enjoyed cheering them all on in the pouring rain! It was great to see so many young people enjoying sport in such an exciting and competitive environment! This event gives these young players the fantastic opportunity to represent our Borough.'
