Tameside Sports Development Unit organises various sporting competitions throughout the year.

Many of the competitions are aimed at primary schools, encouraging them to enter in the Inter-Primary School competitions hosted by secondary schools in Tameside.

The sports include: Girls Football, Basketball, Indoor Athletics, Cricket, Tennis, Rugby, Volleyball and Netball.

Other competitions and events the unit organise are the Greater Manchester Youth Games, Greater Manchester Mini Games, Street to Stadium during half-term holidays and the Primary Schools' Annual Tour in mid July.
