Education Charities and Grants to Voluntary Bodies
Application for Financial Assistance
There is a maximum grant of:
- £200 as a startup grant for any newly established club.
- £500 for any established club.
- £1,000 for any association serving a large number of schools or clubs.
Essential Criteria for Applicants
- The organisation must operate within the borough of Tameside and offer recreational opportunities to young people under the age of eighteen years.
- The club must provide the names, addresses and ages of current members who attend and represent your club on a regular basis.
- The club should clearly identify an Equal Opportunities ethos which allows easy access to activities for all young people and takes special consideration for those with a disability and/or limited economic support.
- In the case of existing and established sports groups, the grant aided project must be related to a new area of development which increases opportunities for young people.
- In the case of a new group, the grant can be directed towards startup costs but there must be consideration given to the club having a sustainable structure.
- The club must make efforts to provide qualified coaches and to develop links with local schools.
- Any established club must have a bank account with at least two signatories, a written constitution and a copy of recent accounts.
- If successful, a record of how the grant is spent, together with relevant invoices and receipts, should be made available to the council.
- The council reserves the right to reclaim all or part of the grant, if conditions are not applied to.
- The support of the council should be acknowledged in an appropriate manner.
