Sports Club Development Fund
Criteria
- Clubs to demonstrate a commitment to developing sporting opportunities for young people.
- Clubs can only apply for grant aid on a 'Pound-for Pound' basis, except for applications of, or under, £1,000 where matched funding of 25% would be required.
Ideally the application should be for a new youth project. However, if it can be demonstrated that the extension of existing projects would lead to an increase in membership and numbers participating, then applicants may be eligible.
- Clubs must be based in Tameside.
- Club's matching funding may be provided via other external sources (e.g. National Lottery).
- Clubs will be asked to demonstrate how their project assists the Council's equal opportunity aims.
- Projects that improve the quality and quantity of sports coaching for young people will be particularly encouraged.
- Schemes must be for sports recognised by Sport England.
- The sub-committee to have the delegated powers to determine applications and amend the criteria as appropriate.
- Appropriate financial monitoring arrangements will be agreed with the Borough Treasurer.
- The maximum amount of grant to be awarded for each individual application under the Sports Club Development Fund to be limited to £15,000.
- However, a club may apply to the fund for capital schemes up to a maximum of £15,000 per year for 3 years, totalling £45,000, brought forward into one single payment in the year of application, in accordance with the following table:
- £15,000 grant for a scheme up to £100,000. (Eligible to reapply the following Year)
- £30,000 grant for a scheme in excess of £100,000 but less than £150,000. (Eligible to reapply after two years).
- £45,000 grant for a scheme in excess of £150,000. (Eligible to reapply after 3 years).
- The Club to provide paid original invoices for work carried out/goods supplied.
- All invoices for work carried out/goods supplied must be dated after the date of Grant being passed.
- It may be necessary on occasions for a member of the management team to visit, to ensure that the Grant has been used to carry out work or purchase goods, etc as stated on the application form.
- Grants will not be considered for the purchase and maintenance of minibuses and private transport.
- Clubs must send in a copy of their public liability insurance before funds can be released.
We must protect the public funds we handle, so we may use the information you have provided on your application form to prevent and detect fraud. We may also share this information, for the same purpose with other organisations that handle public funds.
