The 11th annual Stalybridge Splash event took place on Bank Holiday Monday, 30 May 2011, from noon to 5pm in Armentieres Square, Stalybridge Civic Hall and the surrounding streets. This year, for the first time, the event theme was “Puppets”.
This massive event brought Stalybridge Town Centre and Armentieres Square to life with a fantastic programme of colourful street theatre, free activity workshops, music performances and theatre performances from a number of the country’s leading puppet companies.
A number of free theatre performances both within Stalybridge Civic Hall and in marquees across the town centre gave people the opportunity to see first-class professional theatre productions. Additionally there were dance and music performances on the main stage, which was compered by Wayne Kay of 103.6FM Tameside Radio throughout the day.
Free craft activity workshops were on offer. Balloon modelling and free face painting were also available.
A large funfair operated on Tesco car park and in Armentieres Square throughout the day.
For the health and safety of everyone attending this year’s event, organisers would like visitors to be aware that a strict alcohol ban will once again be enforced throughout the town centre. Anyone carrying alcohol will be asked to leave the event arena immediately.
