How does the service work?
We will visit you at home to discuss your needs and help you find the right solution.
If Anchor Staying Put is the answer, we will help you decide exactly what work should be done and arrange for drawings and specifications.
We will help obtain quotations advise on reliable contractors and oversee the whole job. As well as the technical side we will also help you deal with any disruption during the work or unexpected snags that can arise once work is completed.
If Anchor Staying Put is not the answer for you we will try our best to put you in touch with the right people for what you need.
How do I pay for the cost of work?
Anchor Staying Put will be happy to help you get information on the different ways of paying for the work.
Grants
Some of our clients receive a grant. The availability of home improvement grants will vary from one area to another, even within a local authority and we will advise you on your entitlement to financial help.
We can also help to fill in forms and keep you in touch with key personnel from the office providing the grant.
Mortgages
We can help you to get information from Banks and Building Societies on mortgages or loans that may be appropriate for your needs.
Social Security Benefits
We can advise you on help available from Income Support, and other Social Security benefits.
If you already receive Income Support, you may also be entitled to help with interest on the loan and you may be eligible for a grant from the Social Fund for minor repairs.
How much do I pay Anchor?
Our advisory service is free. If you decide to carry out work with our help, a fee based on the net cost of the work, usually 10%, will be charged for the technical services provided. This fee can often be included in any grants for which you may be eligible. The amount will be confirmed to you in writing before work starts.
All other advice and support offered by Anchor Staying Put is free.
Will I need to move out while the work is being done?
If there is major structural work to be done such as removing floors, it may be necessary for you to move out of your house while the work is carried out. If so, Anchor Staying Put may be able to help you find somewhere to move to temporarily and help you to organise the removals there and back.
