Educational Maintenance Allowance - school maintenance grant
Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)
(Help for students in further education)
The purpose of the allowance is to assist dependent pupils aged 16 to 19 to follow full-time courses at a school, sixth form college or further education college.
For information please go to http://ema.direct.gov.uk/ema.html
which gives information on how to apply, eligibility criteria and see how much you might qualify for.
Alternatively, you can get information from your current school (before you leave year 11), your Connexions personal adviser or your new school or college
Payments will be made to your bank account so if you haven’t got one already you will need to open one before applying for an EMA
Is there any extra Funding Available?
Schools and colleges may have extra funding available to help towards the cost of interview expenses for further or higher education etc. Please contact your Head of Year to determine the level of funding that is available.
