Routes to Work

Routes to WorkRoutes to Work is a Supported Employment service provided by Tameside MBC.  We offer advice, support and practical assistance to local residents with a Disability, which is a barrier to employment.

 


 

Services We Provide?

We aim to help you into employment using a range of different methods, this will include assessing your experiences, any relevant training that you have had and any qualifications that you have gained.

We offer a tailor made package of support which is individual to you.

We can maximise your chances of getting the right job by helping to:

  • Produce your CV
  • Practice interview skills
  • Accompany you to the interview.
  • We will guide you through the recruitment process

Our service is all about finding the right job for the right person, matching client skills to the employer needs.

 

Drop - Ins

Routes to Work provide a drop in service for general advice and guidance and is held at the Topaz Wellbeing Centre on Katherine Street Ashton under Lyne on the last Thursday of every month from 2pm to 4pm. There is no need to book.

Employment Officers are available to talk with and can offer suggestions about finding suitable work and improving employability.
 

Eligibility Criteria for Supported Employment Service  


We can help if you:

  • Are resident in Tameside.
  • Are an adult with a disability (learning, physical, sensory or acquired brain injury)
  • Have a mental health condition.
  • Provide us with all the information that we’ll need to identify the right job and plan for the support that you might need.
  • Are willing to engage in an employment assessment.
  • Want to gain/retain paid work.
  • Would like to gain employment skills within a learning environment.
  • Engagement with the service will be subject to regular outcome reassessment.
  • Are prepared to fully engage in the journey towards employment.
  • Are committed to meeting the expectations of an employer.
  • Can travel independently, or is willing to work towards independent travel to/from a place of work, or have the personal support to do so.
  • Can work independently after initial period of support or have the personal support to do so.
  • If your referral is accepted we will engage with you for up to 2 years.

How to Make a Referral to Routes to Work 


Please telephone TMBC on 0161 342 2400 and request a referral to Routes to Work, contact details will be taken and reason for referral.

The referral will then be passed to our team to be processed.
