More than One Service

Can my child attend more than one care provision each day?

There are no guidelines in respect of how many different provision your child can attend each day.

However, the providers are registered to provide certain types of care and are not allowed to offer any other. For instance, your child could attend a morning and afternoon playgroup on the same premises, but would not be able to remain in their care during lunchtime as this constitues full day care, for which they would not be registered.

It is up to providers of services to decide who should and should not attend the groups, and attendance may be restricted to ensure that as many children as possible benefits from group care.

Many childminders will take children to playgroups, nursery classes and primary schools as part of the overall care package for the child so that they can experience a group care setting.
