Free Entitlement Funding – Information for Providers

For a setting to be able to claim the Free Entitlement Funding, they must be registered with OfSTED and also included on the Tameside’s Directory of Providers.

The providers included in the Directory are registered to provide the Free Entitlement for any child attending their setting from the term after the child’s 3rd birthday.

How can you apply to join the Directory?

For more information on how to apply to join the directory please contact the Extended Services team using the contact details below.

What can the Free Entitlement Funding be used for?

The funding is paid in lieu of a free part time place for an eligible child. A part-time place is defined as 15 hours per week for 38 weeks per year (from 31st March to 1st April the following year) or equivalent (no more than 570 hours per year)

The free place should be offered completely free of charge or by reducing fees by the cost of the free place, the provider can use the difference between the amount of funding paid and the cost of the place to improve and support the free entitlement provision in the setting.

How much is paid for the Free Entitlement?

The funding is currently fixed until March 2011 at £3.45 per child per hour up to 15 hours per child per week.
