Assisted Play and Learning Grant
Administered by Tameside Pre-School Learning Alliance
Who Can Apply?
Pre-schools and playgroups may apply on behalf of a child already in their setting. Referrals may also be made by staff at Family Centres on behalf of children who have been assessed but who do not meet the criteria for support from Social Services.
Groups may also apply for financial support to help fund the additional cost of a one to one worker for a child with special needs.
Groups in hardship may apply for a grant to help them through a difficult period eg. after a fire or break in.
How Much Can You Apply For?
Individual applications are considered against a set of assessment criteria. Since the cost of sessions varies across the sector, as does the length of time funding may be required, this information is taken into consideration along with the amount of money available in the fund at the time of the financial year at which the application is made.
What Can You Spend It On?
Funded places: this is paid directly to the pre school at the end of each half term. Children's attendance is monitored.
Wages for additional staff costs to support children with special needs, paid as above.
