Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)
The Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) is a government initiative across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The National Qualification Framework (NQF) will be replaces by the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) which will become the regulatory framework for all adult vocational qualifications, Apprenticeships and Functional Skills and will commence by January 2011.
All qualifications must be registered with Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and learners will have a Unique Learning Number (ULN) for life which employers will be able to track/check applicant qualifications via the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) database - but only by password and permission from the learner. It is envisaged that NVQ Level 2 will become Qualification and Credit Framework Level 2 Diploma and NVQ L3 will become Qualification and Credit Framework Level 3 Diploma.
On the 3 March 2011, more information will be available at an event held by the consortium that will include CQC updates
Skills for Care have produced a video about the QCF, view the Skills for Care - Qualification and Credit Framework video.

A Career in Care Event
Tameside Employment Partnership organised an event "A Career in Care" to advertise job vacancies. The Training Consortium had a stand at this event along with members of the private care sector. The event provided further information and guidance to pursue a career in Health and Social Care.
The event was held on the 21 July 2010.
Care Ambassador Scheme
Care Ambassadors are care professionals with the commitment and enthusiasm to change perceptions about careers in social care by engaging with groups in the community. The consortium has selected qualified people from care workers to managers, who put dignity at the heart of care services to represent the sector as Care Ambassadors. Quality training is provided including an Induction, Train the Trainer and NLP Training. Care Ambassadors explain their job roles, qualification pathways and career routes to apprentices and 14-19 year old diploma students, widening people's understanding and perception of the care sector as a whole. They have the opportunity to represent the sector at conferences, events, jobs fairs and assist to recruit to the care sector.
There is a video interview with Joanne Fogg, a Care Ambassador from the Tameside Jobs Fair 2010.
Placements required for social work students (Funded)
Would you be interested in offering a placement to a social work student? Placements are of varying lengths and can be within any setting that gives the student some experience and understanding of health, social care and or community work. Students will need someone to supervise them on placement but this person does not need to be a qualified social worker themselves. Full support and training is given to the placement agency.
