A Resource Centre for people with a Visual Impairment, their families and carers
The Centre is part of the Visual Impairment Service and aims to help people with a visual impairment to retain or regain their independence and to learn new skills and adapt existing ones.

What can Vision First offer you?
Information and Advice
The centre has a wide range of information available in large print, Braille, audio cassette and computer disk. Staff are also available to offer advice on subjects about visual impairment. We can give you information and advice on other organisations that may be able to help.
Equipment
A range of equipment designed for visually impaired people is on display at the centre to help with:
- everyday living
- mobility
- low vision - e.g. magnifiers, lighting
- computers
Counselling
Many people can find it very difficult to come to terms with sight loss. Counselling can be arranged for you and/or your carer.
"Try It" Project
An opportunity to find out how computers can help you. These are pre-bookable sessions and anyone wishing to take part needs to contact Vision First on 0161 330 7028 or Send a Message to us using the link below.
What Else is on Offer at Vision First
There are many different groups, activities and courses on offer. These can help you to adapt your skills in order to overcome difficulties caused by sight problems or simply help build your confidence or motivation. When can you visit Vision First
Anybody is welcome to visit Vision First Resource Centre. The Centre is open Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 5.00pm, Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm and Friday 8.30 - 4.00pm. However it is usually best to phone up ahead so we can ensure a member of staff is available to spend time with you.
Is there a charge for coming to Vision First?
No, all services at Vision First Resource Centre are provided free of charge.
