Where are the bowling greens in Tameside?

All bowling greens are crown

Ashton-under-Lyne

Are they open to the public?

Yes, during park opening times (approx. 10.00am - park closing time), but you are requested not to play at times when official matches are in progress.

What does it cost?

If you are a member and wish to receive more details about costs for the season please contact your Club Secretary.

Can I play a one off game of bowls or hire bowls?

You can play a one off game at all of the bowling greens for free, with your own bowls.

The hiring of bowls is only available at Stamford Park, Stalybridge. Prices are:

• Adult - £2.30 per hour + £2.00 deposit (returnable)
• Junior - £1.10per hour
• Senior Citizens - Monday - Friday 10.00am - 5.00pm excluding Bank Holidays - Free. Any other time £1.10 per hour

Does being a Member allow me to play at all or only one bowling green?

As a Member you are able to play at all bowling greens.

Winter Bowling Greens

Indoor carpet bowling is currently available at George Lawton Hall, Mossley. Indoor Bowling will also be available at Oxford Park Sports Centre shortly.

The summer bowling greens close on the  4th October 2009

The following bowling greens will be availiable from Monday 5th October

• Hyde Park  Hyde Round Green
• King George V Playing Fields Ashton-u-Lyne No3 Green

The following Greens will be open till Xmas 2009

• Stamford Park Stalybridge No 2 Green
• Floral Gardens Droylsden Top Green
• Victorai Park Denton No 2 Green

This is of course dependant on weather conditions and Grounds Maintenance renovation works
