Lymefield Visitor Centre

Tameside Countryside Ranger Service at Lymefield

Located at Broadbottom Link to External Website in the Etherow Valley, Lymefield Visitor Centre is the base for the Countryside Ranger Service in the south of the borough.

The Visitor Centre has displays about the local countryside, seasonal displays about various subjects like wildlife and local history and heritage. The Visitor Centre is also the base for education trips to the area, and a starting point for many of the countryside events.

There are public toilets at the visitor centre (including accessible facilities and baby changing) which are available during opening hours, parking facilities, and full access for all. We sell a range of books and maps, as well as souvenirs and gifts, and the nearby garden centre cafe provides refreshments.

Further afield, footpaths lead along the Etherow valley to Great Wood LNR and Werneth Low Country Park beyond. To the south is the impressive sweep of Coombs Rocks and the Peak District National Park, and following the paths across the farmland to the north quickly brings you to the moorland in and around Stalybridge Country Park.

Lymefield Visitor Centre is easy to find, follow the brown tourist signs from the A57 at Mottram in Longdendale (just off the M67), or come by train, we are just a 5 minute walk from Broadbottom rail station on the Manchester to Glossop line.
