Refuse Collection Policies

Tameside MBC has two policies relating to refuse collection.

Flat Lid Policy - Tameside MBC will not empty your refuse bin unless the lid is closed flat.

Green Waste Policy - Tameside MBC will not empty your refuse bin if it contains garden waste (this policy only applies to properties that are covered by the Brown Bin scheme for the collection of garden waste). Other residents can still recycle their garden waste by using the Household Waste Recycling Centres:

• Bayley Street, Stalybridge
• Ash Road, Droylsden

Alternatively residents could purchase a home compost bin for use in their own garden. Home compost bins are available for a cost of £10 delivered to your door.

The policies aim to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill in Tameside. We would like to encourage all residents to recycle as much of their waste as possible.
