Top Notch Garden Services and Garden Furniture


What is Top Notch?

Top Notch is part of Tameside's Day Services for people with learning disabilities. It gives people with learning disabilities training and employment experience. You will learn new skills through supported training.

What do you do at Top Notch?

At Garden Furniture you will attend a training workshop which makes garden furniture.

At Garden Services we help people with their gardens. This includes mowing, pruning, weeding and growing plants. You can also study for the National Proficiency Test Council qualification in horticulture. Some people have gone on to join the Top Notch mobile team practising working skills that will help them to get a job.

Who owns Top Notch?

Top Notch is run by Tameside Adult Services.

How will you benefit from going to Top Notch?

There are many benefits including

  • You can decide whether this kind of work suits you.
  • You can learn all about gardening and how to use woodworking tools.
  • You can learn about health and safety in the workplace.

How long can you stay with Top Notch?

You can spend 12 months with Top Notch learning new skills.

What happens when you finish at Top Notch?

When you finish at Top Notch you will have learnt a lot of new skills. We will work with you to decide how you use those new skills. You may want to find a job; do some more training, go into further education or use other services provided by Tameside Adult Services.

What are the working times?

The working times vary depending which part of Top Notch you are working in and what your needs are.

What do you need to wear?

You'll need clothes that are right for the job:

  • Steel-toe capped boots
  • Hard-wearing and comfortable work clothes
  • Clean and comfortable shirt and T-shirt
  • Warm clothes for the winter
  • Light-weight T-shirt for summer

Will you have to pay for anything?

There are some small charges.

How can we get the service?

You need to contact the Adult Assessment and Customer Care Team. They will see if you would benefit from the service. They will try to answer all your questions.

They are open Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 5pm
Thursday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Friday 8.30am - 4pm
