Double Parking

Whilst it is understood that the demands for parking in the area exceed the street space available it is not the Council's responsibility to provide private parking for residents, moreover parking is only tolerated on the highway provided obstruction to the free passage of vehicles does not occur and the safety of the general public wither on foot or by vehicle is not put at risk.

As in most residential areas in the Borough demands for parking exceeds the street space available as pre-war housing and roads were not of course designed for two car families. Parking on the highway is only tolerated provided obstruction of the free passage of vehicles does not occur. If 'untidy' parking is occurring on your street then the department recommends that residents contact their Community Police Officer. The car owners can then be advised of the error of their ways and any further obstructions may lead to a charge of obstruction of the public highway.
