The Garden of Tranquility in Hyde park officially opened on Saturday 30th July 2005. It was created by local garden designer Mel Chantrey as a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy, reflect on life, and remember loved ones.
The Civic Reception to Honour Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton

This programme shows the Civic Reception at Hyde Town Hall to honour Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton, the IBF Light Welterweight Champion of the World. Ricky was presented with a 12 piece cultery set and portrait to commemorate the occasion, and speeches from the Civic Mayor, Jacqueline Lane and Executive Leader of the Council Roy Oldham.
Stalyhill Junior School goes Scuba Diving

This feature is about the live video conference that took place in Stalyhill School in Stalybridge. The school were able to see live images from a scuba diver as he swam through the sea in North Queensland Australia.

Leigh Primary Encourages Learning by Using Video Animation

Leigh Primary School in Hyde helps to educate children in ICT using digital video cameras and video editiing software. The children have become proficient with the camera and software, and started making short animations using plasticine and dolls houses. The animation project is so successful it was recognised at the 2005 e-Tameside Awards for it's innovation in ICT.
Jeanette Llewellyn - Winner of the Best Teacher e-Tameside Award 2004

Jeanette Llewellyn won the Best Teacher award at the 2004 e-Tameside Awards. The following feature shows her teaching her year 6 class about averages at Globe Lane Primary School in Dukinfield. Apart from showing Jeannette in action, it also features her giving an insight into the lesson, and how she teaches the children.
New Book Charts Unique Church History

This programme documents the launch of a new book that focuses on the history of St Lawrence's Church in Denton. The book also charts the recent restoration work, and archaeological investigations that have taken place at the church. The book was launched by Tameside Council Executive Leader Roy Oldham in St Lawrences's itself.
Corrie Primary Hosts Stars in their Eyes 2005

Every year Corrie Primary School in Denton hosts their own version of "Stars in their Eyes". Tameside TV were there to film the show, and as always the event was a success. As well as the competitors, the show also featured a guest performance by last year's winner, Sam, who performed as Michael Jackson.
Local Studies and Archives Centre Moves to New Home
11th March 2005
The Local Studies and Archives Centre has moved into new purpose-built premises in Ashton-under-Lyne following the completion of this £1million project. For the first time, all the archival materials are stored on one site in state-of-the-art environmentally controlled conditions.
This programmes shows new Centre being opened by Allan Beswick, BBC GMR broadcaster and Councillor R.S. Oldham CBE, Executive Leader of the Council.
Bookstart Initiative in Tameside
7th February 2005
Bookstart is a national scheme run by Tameside Libraries to encourage parents and carers to share books with babies. Every 8-month old baby receives a pack containing 2 books, information for parents/carers, a library joining form, and rhyme cards. Activity sessions are run on a regular basis at libraries around Tameside.
This programme gives a taster of the sessions, testimonies of parents using it, and gives information about the scheme for parents who might be interested in joining.
Animation by Longdendale Community Language School Selected for Screening
1st February 2005
Students at Longdendale Community Language School created an animation called "Midnight Adventure at the Manchester Art Gallery", which was selected to be screened at the 2005 Animex Festival in Teeside. This programme documents how the film was created, what inspired it, and shows the finished film itself.
The film focuses on a painting of a cheetah that comes to life and wreaks havoc on other paitnings in an art gallery.
