Music – Bicycle Race by Queen

Gill Nettleton, Tameside Youth Service

“Today it’s the launch of our ACE Project which is Accessible Cycling Experience. It’s a project that we’ve been working on for about twelve months now, working with young people to raise funds to buy some of these accessible bikes that you see today. All of these bikes are adapted to be accessible to people with disabilities.”

Music

Keith Lofthouse, LDS Physio Team Leader

“It’s been a partnership between us and Cyclops which has resulted in an all access scheme for anybody who wants to try cycling. It’s to try and make it a totally exclusive scheme so that nobody despite age, disability, can you know they can all have a cycling experience of some kind or another.”

Lauren Partridge, Volunteer

“It just comes as second nature to me, I can just get on a bike but when I see people like this and it’s like it must just be the best day of their life to actually ride a bike. I’m just actually proud to be a part of watching people be happy. Instead of being like on the streets. I’d rather be here more than anything”.

Music

Christine Dale, Parent

“I’ve brought my son Martin, he’s got Downs Syndrome. He’s nineteen and he loves the atmosphere here, he’s never been off a bike since he’s been here. He’ll get exercise and he’s just liked being with others”.

Keith Lofthouse, LDS Physio Team Leader

“Martin’s modelling our bike which we think probably epitomises why this is an all inclusive scheme. This is a bike that we can basically fit anybody into and especially people who are very, very physically challenged.”

Music

Gill Nettleton

“It’s got such potential for so many different people not just physical disabilities and learning difficulties but for people who may be partially sighted or may have hearing problems.”

Christine Dale, Parent

“I’m gonna spread the word as much as I can and I think it’s good for kids; they mix with other kids and do things.”
