Good Morning my name’s Barry McQueen and I’m the Town Crier of Tameside where the sun always shines and my goodness me look at this today. Today it is the 12th of September and today’s the day of the Black Knight Pageant. We’re gonna get thousands of people here, it’s gonna be a brilliant event. Where else could we have Black Knight but here in brilliant Tameside.

Oh yea oh yea, oh yea it is today my honourable duty as the Town Crier of Tameside to make the following proclamation. For many, many years as a child I came to see this Black Knight Pageant and I am delighted it has been reinstated so ladies and gentlemen to do the official opening of our Black Knight Fair it is with the greatest of pleasure I respectfully ask you all please give a wonderful warm Tameside welcome to the Chair of Ashton District Assembly, ladies and gentlemen Councillor Lynn Travis, I thank you.

Good morning everybody. I too am delighted that we’re once again having something that we’ve got in the Black Knight Fair because we’ve missed it for too long and I was really keen that we reinstated it so that the people of Ashton have something very traditional to their history and it’s particularly important on this Heritage Day so without more ado I officially open the fair and wish everybody here a fantastic day.

Ladies and gentlemen have you ever heard of the biggest cow in the world well it was robbers inside this cow and the dragon swooped in low and he drooled because he thought he was going to have a really juicy cow burger and he flew and he clutched the cow to his chest with his claws.
