Tameside would like to put Stamford Park in for a Heritage Lottery Award and so at the present time we're gathering a lot of information about the park, about the buildings, about the pavings, about the planting but we're also gathering people's views because to the Lottery it's very, very important to know what the community wants, what they like about the park, what they don't like, what they would like to see happen.

The park as it is now I think as a green space for Ashton this is fantastic. It's obviously got a lot of history to it. It's like Ashton's serious about rejuvenating this park in terms of use and what it stands for which is great and I think what they've done today here is fantastic as a starting point.
