Text Version
“Hello and welcome on behalf of every Hindu everywhere we welcome everyone who is present here. We are celebrating Diwali. Diwali is a very big festival for every Hindu everywhere in the world. Thousands of years ago, people who lived on both of the sides of the River Indus. This River Indus was later on known as River Sindhu and this river was again renamed as River Hindu and people who lived on this side of the river are called Hindus and the way of life has become a culture and that’s what we call Hinduism. So Hinduism is a way of life. Let’s celebrate with a prayer. Every Hindu starts everything with a prayer. You will find in every Hindu’s car, shop, wallet, purse, handbag – something which relates to God because prayer is a very important part of their life. Let us start these celebrations with a prayer, a prayer from very young children. The words of the prayer are Oh Lord, the whole universe is your shrine, moons and stars are your land. Please welcome the children.
Applause.
Children sing.
