Register to Vote

You can only vote in elections if your name is on the Register of Electors.

The electoral register is a list of names of all those people eligible to vote. A new register is published every 1 December, but people can add their names throughout the year. You may register to vote if you are:

  • living at an address in Tameside
  • 18 years old or over during the life of the register
  • a British or Commonwealth citizen
  • a citizen of the Irish Republic or other European Union state not otherwise disqualified from registration

To vote in the Local Elections and Referendum on 5 May 2011 you must be registered by Thursday 14 April 2011
