During September 2013 Juliette Hamilton, local acclaimed willow artist  worked with the Cultural Services Department at Portland Basin to create “Joey” from the novel “War Horse” by Michael Morpergo”.

throughout 2014 Tameside will be embarking on a fabulous cultural project working directly in partnership with The National Theatre Link to External Website and The Lowry. War Horse, the celebrated theatre production which has gained great critical acclaim whilst in London's West End run is coming to the region for the Winter Season. A range of exciting activities across the borough are planned including workshops and activities combining performance, visual arts and digital art.


Throughout the project there will be opportunities to join readers groups, visual arts and drama based workshops, visits to the Museum of the Manchester Regiment, practical workshops at Tameside Local Studies Library and much more. To enquire about becoming involved please call 0161 342 4144.
