Highways Weedspray Programme

Tameside Council operates a Highways Weedspray Programme. The areas sprayed consist of adopted roads, adopted footpaths, some linked footpaths and public car parks. This includes pedestrianised town centre areas and market grounds.

The programme allows for 3 sprays per year:

• February to March - 1st spray
• June to July - 2nd spray
• September to October - 3rd spray

Within the above time frame the exact dates for spraying are agreed with the contractor each year and are subject to weather conditions:

• Spring may be early or late which would determine when the first spray is best carried out.
• Summer may be predominantly wet or dry which would determine when the second spray is best carried out.
• Winter may be early or late which again would determine when the third spray is best carried out.
