Christmas lights switch ons and celebrations 2017

TAMESIDE town centres are counting down to Christmas with a fabulous package of lights switch on events and celebrations.

The community led events, supported by the Council, will offer a range of festive treats, activities and entertainment while also highlighting all that our town centres have to offer, celebrating local talent and encouraging people to shop locally.


Here’s what’s happening and when:
 

Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November

Denton

Denton Civic Square

Christmas market and funfair running Friday (12noon-8pm) and Saturday (12-8pm) with lights switch on and entertainment on Saturday from 6.30pm.

 

Saturday 18 November

Stalybridge

Armentieres Square

Entertainment from 1.30pm

Main show and arrival of Father Christmas 5-6pm.

 

Saturday 18 November

Tameside Winter Carnival & Festive Celebration

Ashton 6-7.30pm

Lantern Parade will start at Katherine St at 6pm and head down Stamford Street, culminating in Old Cross Street Car Park for festive  finale including music, dancers, Father Christmas and pyrotechnics.

 

Wednesday 22 November

Audenshaw

Ryecroft Hall 4-7pm

Christmas lights switch on at 5pm, lantern parade, santa on a sleigh, carols, hot food, mulled wine and Santa’s grotto.

 

Friday 24 November

Micklehurst

Junction of Micklehurst Road and Station Road 6-7pm

Father Christmas and lights switch on

 

Friday 24 November

Dukinfield

Dukinfield Town Hall, King Street, 6pm

Father Christmas, carols, Adamson’s Brass and funfair

 

Saturday 25 November

Droylsden

Civic Square 2-6pm

Family entertainment, snow globe, mulled wine and funfair with lantern parade starting at 4.30pm. Christmas lights switch on at 5.30pm.

 

Saturday 25 November

Mossley

Market Place 4-7pm

Lantern parade, community entertainment and lights switch on. A Christmas market will be held inside George Lawton Hall

 

Saturday 25 November

Hyde

Civic Square 10am-5pm

Lights switch on from 4.15pm with Father Christmas arriving on a sleigh, entertainment and comedian Justin Moorhouse.

 

Saturday 25 November

Hollingworth

St Mary’s Church Grounds and car park next to Spice Bistro 12-4pm

Festive market, organised by Friends of Hollingworth, with local crafts people and Santa on his sleigh.
