Council to hold its first ever Young Traders Market

Press Release: 20/05/2019

Successful young traders could get chance to represent Tameside at regional and national events

Tameside Council will be holding its first ever Young Traders Market on Saturday 25 May.

The event is a platform which offers trading opportunities and business support to young entrepreneurs (aged 16-30) in an attempt to nurture young talent, advocate market trading as a business model, and encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs to trade.

The Young Traders Market is part of a nationwide initiative by the National Market Traders Federation. And traders from local events will be chosen to represent their towns at the Federation’s regional and then national platforms.

Tameside Council’s Steve Hadfield, who manages the borough’s markets, said, “It will be a chance for young people to explore what it means to be a market trader. It might be people who are currently trading elsewhere and would like to use the event as a platform to develop their business, or young people who just want to get a feel for the markets trade.

“And of course for the general public it’s an unusual event, when they’ll have the chance to browse a new set of stalls.”

Twenty trading pitches are available for the day at Ashton Market. For more information please contact Ashton Market Office on Tel 0161 342 3268 email markets@tameside.gov.uk  or direct message through social media.
