Supporting Tameside people in need this Christmas

Press Release: 04/11/2019

FoodbanksTHE season of goodwill is upon us and residents are being asked to put a few extra items in their shopping baskets to support local people in need this Christmas.

Tameside Council has organised collection points for local food banks and the Tameside Toy Appeal in all Tameside libraries and children’s centres as well as customer services in Tameside One in Ashton.

Council and NHS Tameside & Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group staff are also running collections for both appeals within their workplaces.

Food banks are particularly in need of: long life milk and powdered milk; tinned fish, meat and vegetables; sponge puddings;  custard; cartons fruit juice; cordial; coffee; chocolates; jam; rice, instant mash and Christmas goods. But no baked beans or dried pasta please – food banks already have enough of these.

The deadline for foodbank donations is 29 November.
