Hosting a street party in Tameside

Street parties have been held in the UK for hundreds of years. Helping neighbours connect with each other they are a brilliant way of building stronger, happier communities and combat the isolation people often feel in modern society.

With a number of benefits for resident’s wellbeing, Tameside Council has created a simple process for communities wanting to host street parties. A step by step guide and activity ideas are available to download to help you plan with your neighbours.

Please note due to the coronavirus pandemic we will no longer be accepting applications to close roads for the VE Day bank holiday (8th – 10th May.)

For residents wanting to close their road at another time of year, please follow the process set out in the street party guide. The deadline to apply to close your road is four weeks before the street party is due to take place.
