Safeguarding Adults briefings are aimed at staff in all organisations signed up to the Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedures.



World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2018

Throughout the community World Elder Abuse Day on Friday 15th June 2018 highlighted adult abuse, how to recognise the signs and how to report it.
Events across Tameside helped to  highlight the day by embracing the purple theme and organising a fun activity with a serious message throughout the week.


Here’s some of the highlights- including wearing Purple to work for the day, completing a purple quiz with purpled theme questions which is available to download.

Elder Abuse Day

They key part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is to  ensure events also raise an  awareness of adult abuse and the message that it is should not be tolerated. There are posters available to display and information leaflets available to download. If you would like copies of these sending out to you please get in touch.

World Elder Abuse awareness Day 2016

Throughout the week of world Elder Abuse Awareness Day, TASPB partner organisations used social media to raise awareness of adult abuse.

Local community groups were involved in hosting purple themed events including coffee mornings and enjoying baking and eating cakes while discussing adult abuse in Tameside and highlighting World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2015

Monday 15th June 2015 was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and the prevention of Abuse to elderly people was the focus.

WEAAD is the one day in the year when the whole world expresses its opposition to the abuse that is experienced by an older person. The day seeks to prevent abuse by giving targeted information and encouraging community participation on a broad scale. The day is about all of us working together to bring greater recognition of adult abuse and to highlight the need for appropriate action.

Throughout the week community goups and partner organisations raised awareness of Safeguarding Adults in a variety of different ways including display boards, purple themed coffee mornings, safety information event and wearing purple for the day.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2014

Tameside Adults Safeguarding partnership held aseries of events leading up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on 15th June 2014.

Events started with an information stand in Ashton Indoor Market on Tuesday 10th June followed by a stand at Tameside Hospital on Wednesday 11th June and at Hattersley Hub on the 12th June.

Tameside Adults Safeguarding Partnership held a series of events to raise awareness within the community leading up to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Saturday 15 June 2013.

On 25 February an Outreach Stand was held in Asda Supermarket, Ashton to raise awareness of Hate Crime and Safeguarding Adults

I'm Not Laughing

Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership (TASP) and Tameside Hate Incident Panel (THIP) hosted an event in October aimed at practitioners from partner organisations who are committed to delivering the Safeguarding Adults agenda and who wish to enhance their understanding of partnership working to safeguard adults in the community. An evaluation(1.28MB) of the event has been carried out.


World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Link to External Website - Friday 15 June 2012

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2012 was supported by staff within Tameside Adult Safeguarding Partnership (TASPB) organisations. Staff raised awareness of adult abuse by speaking to staff and members of the pubic at various events across Tameside including coffee mornings, Information stands, staff training and wearing purple for the day.

Older Peoples Week 1 - 7 October 2012

During Older Peoples week the Safeguarding Adults Team held an information stand at the Grafton Centre, Hyde displaying information from TASPB partner agencies and talking to members of the public regarding signs and symptoms of abuse and how to report it.
